View (from property/room) in The Float House River Kwai
We had a wonderful 2-night stay at the Float House. Everything was lovely. Stay - The rooms, the bed, amenities and facilities were great. View - It's just peaceful and tranquil. Lucky that we had quiet neighbours. We sat on decking and the swing for hours. Even late night, we switch off some lights and sat on the swing. Whispering to ourselves while listening to the river flows. Wine, drinks and snacks of course. No mosquitos. The air was so fresh too. (There are lots of mosquitos at the parking areas, above the hotel though) Food - Breakfast was pretty good. We had lunch and dinner at the Potoon restaurant too. The dishes are pretty decent and we enjoyed everything. The prices are not that high. Staff- Friendly, helpful and lovely :) Thank you! Activities- We only did one which is renting the raft and float down the river. It was said to be safe. I am surprised that I did even though I was scared. But pls be carful since the hotel won't take responsibilities for any accidents happen. Another way, from your hotel decking, you can also jump in the water with life jacket on. At the end of the hotel, there is small bridge with red flag (near spa) which you shall (must) climb up. If you miss that, there is still a long rope line which you can swim up. I struggled myself as I am not a good swimmer and I missed that red flag due to the strong current. I managed it in the end though. Had a panic attack 😃Lucky for me that there was staff watching out, but I m not sure if he standby all day. Just be carful then you'd be ok. If you are coming to Kachanaburi and looking for tranquility, romantic and a different experience, "The Float House" is the one. One more tip: If you are coming to the hotel by car, just hire from Bolt app. We only paid for 1800 bath from Bangkok Downtown to the hotel which is around 4 hours ( maybe 4.5 hours) drive to the hotel parking areas.

It was a memorable stay here in the float house as I celebrated my birthday, the whole structure floating in the river nestled in the remote jungle area is something very unique I have ever experienced. We have been to water villas in maldives but this one gives you the real floating experience as the whole house moving , specially when the boats are passing through the river. Their food is also nice as for the lunch and dinner. And for the breakfast they had a lot of options. Additional information: If anyone coming from Kanchanaburi ( if from bangkok you will start from thonburi train station) you can take the train and get down to the last station "Nam Tok" and then you take a car or van up to Phutakien pier ( it takes around 15 to 20 minutes). After reaching there you will find the private boat of float house waiting for you. It seemed to be the most efficient way ( also you can see some landmarks like River kwai bridge, death pass, scenic views on the way) rather than taking a cab which will be way too much expensive.

We wish we could've stayed longer. It started with a warm welcome - we were given cold towels and tea for refreshment. The staff were kind and helpful (my partner forgot his bag when we were already on the boat, luckily one of the staff handed the bag to us on the other side of the pier). The rooms exceeded my expectation, the bed was comfortable. The toilet and bathroom were clean. They had complete necessities. Plenty of choices for their breakfast. The food was great too, we paid separate for our dinner - they have western/european choices in their menu such as fish and chips, burger etc. It was indeed quiet and peaceful - great time to be away from the city. The view, the whole idea of the Float House is very aesthetic. They offer many other activities too, but sadly we were not able to do any.

This is a special Thailand experience. I have lived here 20 years as a foreigner and rank this experience in my top three. But it’s not for everyone and don’t expect it’s a top tier city 5 star. It is remote and will take a min 4 hours from Bangkok ( forget google estimates). When you come to this resort and unless you have transport you need to be prepared to stay there as there are no other options for entertainment, eating or convenience store type supplies. Put that aside and if you love scenery, swimming, rafting, relaxing and a quiet setting you will love it. Prices in the restaurant are very reasonable but don’t expect a 5 star menu in the jungle. Finally please also note it’s not for young children as all rooms have direct access to the river.

The bedroom and facilities were excellent, sitting right by and on the river was exactly what I wanted and more than met my expectations. The restaurant food was pretty good, also liked happy hour. Breakfast was better than dinner with a good choice of everything. The staff who carried the luggage up and down those stairs deserve a medal !!! Still always had a smile. I am sure they get tipped well, and deserve every baht.
